Born in Bowmanville Ontario, Don Sweete is a trombonist who learned to
play in The Whitby Brass Band, Whitby, Ontario. Mr. Sweete attended the
University of Western Ontario where he studied performance as well as
composition and theory, attaining a Bachelor of Music in Performance. Here he studied
trombone with Charles Dalkert and Tom Eadie and composition with Michael
Longton. Mr. Sweete has performed extensively as both a freelance musician
and a regular player with such ensembles as the Victoria Symphony
Orchestra, National Ballet Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company, Canadian
Broadcasting Corporation, Hamilton Philharmonic, Hannaford Street Silver
Band, The Mainly Mozart Orchestra, Orchestra London, and The Royal
Alexandra Theatre. His compositions and arrangements have been performed
at Stratford by Derek Conrad, James Ford and the Stratford Festival
Orchestra, on CBC by The Pro Arte Quintet, at Roy Thomspon Hall, by
BRASSROOTS and by the Harrington Brass of Waterloo.
