The Girl With The Flaxen Hair and Golliwogs Cakewalk are two of Claude Debussys most popular piano works. It has been said that The Girl With The Flaxen Hair, with its impressionistic and progressive harmonies, may have been a significant influence for many jazz artists of the century. The use of Flugel horns within the quintet creates a warm accompanying texture under the brilliance of the Piccolo. This solo is not for everyone as it soars up to high Abs on more than one occasion - in fact it ends on one being held at pp for 3 bars!
