These dances were taken from a much larger suite originally for just 4 recorders. Style is everything with these short pieces. Brilliant fortes are contrasted with smooth lyrical playing. The ensemble must work together to match articulations, dynamic and style. All the instrument families get a chance to shine and this could also be used as an educational piece to study the Renaissance era and its music.
