This piece was originally a work to show off the trumpet stop on an organ. That brilliant sound has been replaced by the real instrument in this arrangement for 2 trumpets and organ. There is a slow introduction before the actual Voluntary in which the trumpets enter with their fanfare-like themes. There are 2 keyboard scores provided - in D and B-flat. This allows for performance on piccolo trumpet or on B-flat trumpets.
